Places worth seeing around Bellezza Hotel

  • Malta Pavilion

The Malta Pavilion is located within the Yıldız Park which is 150m from our Hotel.

The Malta Kiosk (Turkish: Malta Köşkü), also known as the Malta Pavilion, is a historic imperial Ottoman residence located within the garden of the Yıldız Palace in Istanbul, Turkey. The two-story pavilion was commissioned by Sultan Abdülaziz (reigned 1861–1876) as a hunting lodge, designed by the architect Sarkis Balyan in the neo-baroque style and completed in 1870.

The pavilion, perched atop a steep hill, is one of the two lodges of its art within the Yıldız Park. It is located at the north side of the wall separating Yıldız Palace.

The origin of the name comes from the executive use of limestone from Malta, which is the prominent material used.

  • Ortaköy Mosque

The Ortaköy Mosque is located within Ortaköy Square which is 500m from our Hotel.

Ortaköy Mosque (Turkish: Ortaköy Camii) officially the Büyük Mecidiye Camii (Grand Imperial Mosque of Sultan Abdülmecid) in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, Turkey, is one of the most popular locations on the Bosphorus. This structure is symbolic of the district of Ortaköy as it has a distinctive view of the Bosphorus Strait of Istanbul and the Bosphorus Bridge. The mosque can be viewed from the Bosphorus Cruise that is popular among tourists, to go from the Asian side of Istanbul to the European side on a ferry boat.

Located on the site of the present-day Ortaköy Mosque, there previously was a small masjid. Built in 1720, it was ruined during the Patrona Halil Uprising in 1731.

The current mosque, which was erected in its place, was ordered by the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid and built between 1854 and 1856, on the ruins of the Cantemir Palace. Its architects were Armenian father and son Garabet Amira Balyan and Nigoğayos Balyan (who also designed the nearby Dolmabahçe Palace and the Dolmabahçe Mosque), who designed it in the Neo-Baroque style.

  • Çadır Pavilion

The Çadır Pavilion is located within the Yıkdız Park which is 150m from our Hotel.

The Çadır Pavilion complemented by a pool is situated in the third court, near the top of the hill. The Çadır and Malta Pavilions were built in 1871 by Sultan Abdülaziz (1861-1876). Both pavilions, built for resting and hunting, were then parts of the Çırağan Palace complex. The Çadır Pavilion is also called “Curtained Pavilion”, as it is surrounded by cedar trees.

This one-story building with basement, made of cut-stone, has three rooms and a hall. The basement was designed as a kitchen.

The Malta and Çadır Pavilions were renovated in 1979 by Istanbul Turing, which converted them into a café and a restaurant. Since then, they are open to the public. The Pavilion is now functioning as a cafe and restaurant.

It is located in the 3rd Court.
